All about our puzzles
About that website name. There are hundreds of sites that sell PUZZLES, so we decided to call
our website PUXXLEBOT. (The letter X is sometimes pronounced like a Z, as in Xylophone).
Our team spent 3 years developing and perfecting the Puxxlebot process. It started when a popular
provider of cryptogram puzzles suddenly quit producing new puzzles. Panic set in and puzzlers
turned to our development staff to come up with a solution.
A lot of coding and trial and error resulted. During development, we constantly had our puzzlers
try and solve and improve our puzzles. We wanted them to be challenging, difficult but solvable.
Our puzzles are based on a number-letter encryption scheme that randomly changes with every puzzle.
Each puzzle provides clues - one vowel and one consonant, with their corresponding numbers.
We use word randomizing and track word usage so each puzzle is fresh and challenging.
Puzzles are generated into a printable PDF file in sets of 12 and a solution page at the end.
Puxxlebot puzzles look a little like traditional crosswords in a 20 column by 19 row matrix.
They are based our own dictionary of about 30,000 of the most frequently used English language words.
And we constantly add and change the dictionary to keep our crosswords fresh and correct.
We've provided five sets of 12 live puzzles for you to download and use. Just click on the
"Sample cryptogram" tab at the top. Then download the sample, print it and try it out. If you
want more, they cost $3 per set of 12. To purchase a set, click on the "Buy a set of puzzles" tab.
At Puxxlebot, we value your privacy - we do not save any information from you or about you.
For that reason, you must keep track of what puzzle sets you have purchased, so the next time
you don't buy the same set twice!
